Letter to a Friend,

Below is a letter I wrote to a young man who ACTUALLY left everything to follow Christ.

"Must you go to China? How much nicer it would be to stay here and serve the Lord at home!" Just like that, J. Hudson Taylor's new x-girlfriend made it plain at last that she would not go to China. Thankfully J. Hudson Taylor did not cave to this woman. He followed the Lord Jesus Christ instead of what he wanted. No other missionary in the previous nineteen centuries since the Apostle Paul has had a wider vision and has carried out a more systematized plan of evangelizing a broad geographical area than Hudson Taylor.

You..... are choosing to leave Fort Smith, moving away from family and friends and a godly girlfriend... Am I that strong? For most of my 41 years I have not been, and I was trapped by my own fear of loss. That for the Christian is how your life gets stripped away & pruned. Apparently I have not been so smart as it has happened to me more than once. Now, with a few years and bumps and bruises....I only wished as young as you are now, I had the courage to do as you are. You are paying the cost of discipleship. As sure as there is a God in heaven, I promise You, you will bear much sweet fruit in your life to come.
